Dear Ones, Hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy this great weather. We had a full house for our Birthday party yesterday and great when new ones come out. Al went with me to my appointment with a wound specialist and it went well. We go again on Tuesday and Al will clean up my wound and do the dressing change. He gets many points!! Thank you again for prayers and cards!
Devotions from Judy’s heart
Many people come to believe in the Lord, but that is only the beginning. He calls us to a life of intimacy with Him, and desires that we share all of our life with Him. Some people try to do life on their own terms, but soon find out it leaves them empty and it doesn’t work. But how do we learn to walk with the Lord in an intimate way and hear His voice speaking to our hearts? In John Eldredge’s book Walking with God, he shares his journey of what it means to walk with God over the course of a year. Maybe his experiences will help us walk deeper with the Lord as well. God speaks to us through His Word, but also individually through the happenings of our everyday life. I was so surprised when I found out one day that the Lord didn’t speak the same way to my cousin as He did to me. Even though I sensed the Lord speaking to me in the berry patch, she heard nothing since God speaks to her in His own way.

Jesus says in the first chapter of the gospel of John that His sheep listen and know His voice and follow Him. Of course, that means we have to stay close enough so we can hear His voice and also that we desire to follow Him. All of us would admit that we may hear what He is saying to us, but we often want our own way more than His, later finding out that it was not a good decision. We don’t always choose to follow Him, even when we believe we know what He is saying to us. That is an old story, for it started with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. They disobeyed God but even after that, God went looking for them and found them hiding. Perhaps we also hide from God when we know He has spoken but we don’t want to obey…yet He still seeks after us and desires that we return.

When we love someone we want to talk to them, and when we love the Lord we want to hear from Him. In Isaiah 50:4 it says, “Morning by morning He awakens; He awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.” How important it is to start our day with our ear attuned to His voice and seek to know how He would lead us. God is always available, may we experience the joy of listening to what He has to say to us.

Challenge for today: Spend some quiet moments, listening to what the Lord would say to you.
Blessings on your weekend and prayers and love, Judy
