Jesus paid it all, and all that we have and are belongs to Him. Some of us may give up something for Lent, like a certain food, entertainment, maybe time on our devices, etc. We are in essence saying, “God, you matter more than what I am giving up.” What the Lord seeks is the giving of our hearts, our souls, our minds to Him. Do we often hold back and only give to Him piecemeal? Our life on earth is brief, and nothing is more important than living our whole lives for the Lord and being fruitful for His kingdom.
Our prayer everyday should be, “Lord, I want you! I want your will in my life. I want you to have all of me!” No matter what we do in life, our priority is to go to Him, trust Him and seek His presence. Of course He knows we sin daily and He doesn’t expect us to fix ourselves, but to confess and repent of our wrong doings and trust in His forgiveness. His grace covers all our past, present and future, if only we will go to Him in our need. Let us not hide from the Lord, for He can handle the truth of our lives. Rather turn to Him and give Him everything, the good and the bad!
