Jesus wants to speak to us each day. How can we better learn to recognize His voice and carefully listen to Him?  John 10:3-4 says, “The gatekeeper opens the gate for Him, and the sheep recognize His voice and come to Him. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. After He has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow Him, because they know His voice.”  If we have received the Lord, then we can also recognize His voice; this is for all of us, not just a few special people. Sometimes He may speak to us through dreams and visions which is happening especially in Muslim countries right now. Some people have special encounters and mystical experiences like Paul on the road to Damascus. He was struck blind and later had his eyesight restored by someone he had never met. He went on to have more visions and revelations from the Lord and brought many into the Kingdom.

Jesus lives within each of us who have given our hearts to Him, and He wants us to enjoy Him and learn to commune with Him all throughout our day. He brings us peace, healing, a sense of His love and even laughter. We can experience God in many ways if we are open. I read of a person receiving a particular message from the Lord in a dream and someone far away had the same dream, and it was confirmation that the Lord was bringing them together for a specific purpose. Encounters with the Lord are to strengthen us in our faith and to cause us to go deeper with the Lord.

Of course, we are a threat to the enemy when we are closely knit in our hearts to the Lord. He doesn’t fear when people just talk about God, go to church and Bible study, etc., but he fears greatly when they love the Lord and are intimately connected to Him. Every day we need to choose the Lord over all things and love Him most of all. Life becomes quite exciting, as we never know what will happen. That doesn’t mean we will all have rich lives of getting everything we want. Often, we may have to make a choice and forget about an easy life in the world over choosing Jesus and taking whatever comes. We give Him our self-life and He gives back to us of Himself. Let us not give in to the world, but give everything up to the Lord!

Challenge for today: Spend time giving the Lord your undivided attention and tune out the world around you, so He may reign!
