Devotions based on John Ortberg’s book, The Me I Want to Be

”Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Matt. 10:39. There is no way for us to come to God without surrender. Surrender is not the same as passivity or being a doormat. It is the” glad and voluntary acknowledgment that there is a God and it is not me.” In surrender we let go of our lives and yield to Him to do what He says. It means we are not doing the driving any more but He is behind the wheel.  When we let Him drive, we are no longer in charge of our ego. We let Him be God and follow where He leads. We receive power through the act of surrender and freedom that we otherwise cannot know.
“Jesus does not come to rearrange the outside of our life the way we want. HE comes to rearrange the inside of our life the way God wants.”  We will find a sense of peace as we surrender to His leading, which is a moment by moment thing.  It replenishes our vitality!
