Dear Ones,
Hope you are enjoying the weekend. We would ask for prayers because of hurricane warning for Hawaii. Our granddaughter, Lily is there this weekend playing soccer. They won their first game but have another one late this afternoon and then hoping to fly home on Monday.
Devotions from Judy’s heart
Where are the people of integrity today? It used to be we could generally trust the truth of what a person said, but today it seems there are fewer people who are trustworthy. Curt Landry writes about how honor is the mark of a true believer. We are to honor God, but then also honor others by showing respect and devotion. If we watch the news, we see how far our nation has come from respecting others’ views and treating them with honor especially when no one is watching. When we see adults showing disrespect, what example that must leave in the hearts of their children.
First of all, we are to love and honor the Lord in our hearts, not just in our words. We are to also honor Him with our possessions if we want to experience an overflow of blessings. When we honor Him, He also honors us. (II Sam 2:30) We are to outdo one another by showing honor in how we practice it in our every day lives. Like it says in Deut. 5:16, we are also to honor our parents if we want to live well and long. Our homes are the first place where honor is learned, from the time we are very young.
We honor God when we seek His kingdom first, when we spend time with Him and worship Him. It is important to honor the Word and to read it, feed on it, and let it empower us to live out what is written. When the Lord is first in our lives and we yield control of our life to Him, honor will flow out of our lives to touch others. Let us sow honor and reap a life of blessing.
Challenge for today: Honor God first in your life that it may show in your actions, words, and example.
Blessings on your weekend and prayers and love, Judy
