Dear Ones,
Hope you have day lived from an eternal perspective. I plan to make Mexican pies and go to Exercise class and to Crafts and later to Bible Study.
Devotions from Judy’s heart
I think we all want our life to count, to make a difference in our world because we were here. When I was laid up as my leg was healing, I had more time to slow down and to think of how purposeful my time is. I’ve always liked to accomplish a lot in my day, but how much time do I waste? Mother Teresa said and practiced, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not come. We have only today. Let us begin.” Do we take advantage of the hours we have been given in a day?
When I was reading from I Tim 6:11-12, I noticed what Paul had to say to Timothy, his son in the Lord. “Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” He also warns him against setting his hope on riches and things of the world, but rather to be generous and rich in good works and share with others.
It is good for all of us to take account of our life, to see how we spend the hours of our day. Do we give the Lord the first fruits of our day and ask for direction, or do we have a cup of coffee and scroll the internet? At the end of the day, can we look back and see His hand or do we notice we have missed opportunities to share Him with others, to help someone in need, or to simply spend time talking with Him? When each of us comes to the end of our lives, we will have a wake-up call and realize what really matters from an eternal perspective. Like Thomas Studd, missionary to China, India etc. said, “Only one life ‘twill soon be past; only what’s done for Christ will last.”
Challenge for today: Spend some time reviewing your life and seek to live it from an eternal perspective, putting the Lord first and foremost.
Hope you have a blessed day and prayers and love, Judy
