Dear Ones,
Hope you have a blessed day. Al will be off to men’s group and I am going to do some baking.. We had a wonderful time at the lake yesterday celebrating Al’s birthday with family. So good to catch up with them.
Devotions from Judy’s heart
Why do we do what we do every day? Most of us are too busy with things that really don’t have any eternal significance, and yet we may become stressed with all our obligations. But the question to ask ourselves is: why do we do what we do? Do we operate from the motive of wanting to express our love for God and to follow His path for our lives, or do we do many things so we feel good about ourselves and have importance?
When we try to please people and meet their expectations, we get overly busy and lose our joy. It might be we need to be honest and say we won’t be doing something we have done in the past as our desire is to do what God is calling us to do in the now… and that means cutting out some things. If we want to be led by the Spirit, let us make time for what we feel He is telling us to do. When the Lord leads us into a new ministry, that means we also let go of the old and that can be hard to do.
The bottom line is that what we do in our everyday life should come from our love for the Lord with the motive to please Him. We don’t earn His love, but we express our love for Him as we do whatever He leads us to do and spend our time enjoying Him. In my own life, I am trying daily to Be Still before Him, and some days are harder than others to just rest in His presence and His love for me. I like David’s prayer in Psalm 16:8 -10, “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Let us put the Lord first, and let love for Him be the reason for what we do!
Challenge for today: Ask the Lord to show you any area of your life that is on overload, and be willing to make changes.
Blessings on your day and prayers and love, Judy
